Nebraska delays child-protection registry entry during a proper appeal

LB 668 directs the department to wait for a final order when the subject makes a proper appeal.

LB 668 provides that if the subject of a child abuse or neglect report makes a proper request for appeal under the specified statutory procedure, the subject must not be entered into the central registry of child protection cases until the department issues a final order. The act also revises related notice and appeal provisions. Its protection turns on the statute’s requirements for a proper request; the report does not resolve any individual registry determination.
