Nebraska shortens adult name-change publication period

LB 596 changes the publication period for an adult name-change petition from four consecutive weeks to two, matching the existing period for a petitioner under age 19. The current statute permits a court to waive publication upon a showing that notice would endanger the petitioner. Separate notice requirements for a minor petitioner’s noncustodial parent remain in the statute.
